MacArthur Grant

Deirdre Fishel, working with the non-profit Community Media Productions and producer Tony Heriza, just received a 2014 MacArthur grant for her new documentary CAREĀ which exposes the cracks in the elder care system. New Boy Available for Purchase

THE BOY GAME (2012), a dramatic short which looks at the intertwined lives of three middle school boys began distribution with New Day Films in the fall of 2012. Its aim is to tackle bullying by underlying the pressures to be tough and silent boys face every day. The project has been endorsed by A Call to Men, The National School Climate Center, The Anti-Defamation League and Boys To Men and has had screenings at the Anti-Defamation League’s White Privilege Conference as well as at theĀ American Sociological Association Conference. Since beginning distribution, THE BOY GAME has been bought by over 200 Universities, community groups and libraries in the U.S., Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

THE BOY GAME INTERACTIVE WEBSITE, in which users will be able to choose to go through the narrative as “the bully”, “the target” or “the bystander” to really understand how all three (despite the roles they play) are pressured to be tough and silent will debut May 2014.
